Famous Khao Yai Vineyards Join Food & Wine 2026
Serving Excellent Wines for 3 Full Days. Don't Miss This January 16-18.
It is a source of pride for Khao Yai locals that today many wineries are crafting high-quality wines for the market, marking a significant milestone as a GI (Geographical Indication) wine region accepted globally.
Khun Mimi - Suvisut Lohitnavy, Marketing and Public Relations Director of GranMonte Vineyard and Winery, views that today the Thai wine industry is growing continuously in quality, consumer acceptance, and global image. Thai winemakers have developed viticulture and winemaking techniques suitable for tropical climates to create a unique identity, gaining increasing acceptance that "Thai Wine" is a product of quality and story, comparable to foreign wines.

Currently, GranMonte produces both red and white wines. Many labels have won awards on the global stage, which will be available for tourists to taste at the "Khao Yai Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI 2026," held from January 16-18 at Midwinter.

The highlight of GranMonte is presenting wines that reflect the identity of the Khao Yai terroir, a GI-certified grape-growing region in Thailand. By controlling quality from the vineyard, selecting grape varieties suitable for the climate, to international standard production processes, the resulting wines have clear characters, balance, and truly convey the story of the Khao Yai soil.

"In this event, we hope to create a space for consumers to know Khao Yai wines better, alongside food and other agricultural products famous in Khao Yai. Creating a connection between producers, entrepreneurs, and tourists, showing the potential, creativity, and image of the F&B business (including wine) in Khao Yai that is continuously elevating."
On the side of Khun Ton - Tontrakul Krichpiphat from Alcidini Winery, he says that the current Thai wine industry has quite a few foreign competitors, competing in both price and quality. However, the advantage of Thai wine is that we can offer 'Thainess' by pairing with Thai food more suitably than foreign wines, whether it's Som Tum or other spicy dishes. Our wines have a tropical character, so they pair well with Thai food. But he admits competition is high and hopes for more government support, such as tax issues and unlocking selling hours, which would allow Thai wine to compete more effectively.

"The highlight of Alcidini wine is being a Natural Wine. Every process has no additives, from planting to natural harvesting. This year we will have a special series released for tasting, resulting from the rather dry weather. The grapes ripened until dried, so the wine has a distinct raisin character, the color of dried fruit with reddish-brown hues, scents of dried fruit, intense, finishing with a mild sweetness of dried fruit. It is a wine suitable for the steak family or Thai, Korean, or Japanese style barbecue."

Khun Ton concluded that organizing this event hopes to let people know that wine sources are not just in Europe. Khao Yai also has good wine, receiving world-class standards, and each house has its own unique highlights.
Regarding Khun Pakamon Kritsasirikul, General Manager of Tourism and Restaurants from PB Valley Khao Yai Winery, she views that the Thai wine industry in the past few years has had clear development in quality, consumer acceptance, and global image, especially wine from the Khao Yai area, which has climate and soil suitable for planting quality grapes.

"PB Valley, we are the first to plant grapes for winemaking in the Khao Yai region. We view that Thai wine is no longer just an alternative but is stepping towards being a wine with a true unique identity of Thailand. Meanwhile, consumers are opening their minds to learn more about wine, liking wines with stories, origins, and attention to sustainability, which is the same direction PB Valley has always prioritized."

"In this event, we hope for the opening of consumers' minds towards Khao Yai wine, whether they are new wine drinkers or regular wine drinkers. We hope this event will be a connecting space between producers and consumers to exchange views, learn about Thai wine, and build confidence that Thai wine, especially wine from Khao Yai, has quality and potential comparable to wines from world-class production sources."
For wine lovers, one word: if you miss it, you will regret it very much because once a year, Wineries will gather this tightly only once!
